Project SPROUT
Wodonga Landcare's community planting efforts have had exceptional success.
Highlights:
Landcare coordinators created a flexible "Community Planting Week" (June 21-29), allowing multiple groups to participate when it suited them best and to invite the wider community to join in.
Some planting events numbers
- More than 8,600 native plants planted across 17 sites
- 227 volunteers participated across all planting events
- 68 young people under 18 involved in the project
- 4,074 people reached throughout the entire project
- 525 volunteer hours contributed to project success
- 11 new members joined Landcare groups
Project SPROUT was launched with a fabulous presentation by Dr Greg Moore on “Trees, Climate Resilience and Urban Landscapes”. The event drew 49 attendees, with the venue and catering generously donated by Wodonga TAFE.
Project SPROUT is supported by the Bupa Healthy Cities Landcare Grant through Landcare Australia, demonstrating the power of corporate partnership in creating healthier, more sustainable communities.

Parklands Albury Wodonga, Murray Landcare Collective and Wodonga Urban Landcare Network are again hosting community events in conjunction with this year’s BioBlitz.

- guided nature walks

Blackberry Biology and Identification Workshop

Blackberries are a persistent challenge for landholders and the community, spreading quickly and impacting both natural ecosystems and productive land. Managing them effectively starts with knowing what species you’re dealing with and understanding their biology.
Hosted by Wodonga Urban Landcare Network (WULN) and Kiewa Catchment Landcare Groups (KCLG), this practical workshop is designed to help landholders identify and understand blackberry species on their properties.
