Beechworth Library, Saturday 10th August 10am-11am
Climate change will alter cities, regional centres and towns across Australia. The presence of trees in peoples’ gardens, will make a difference to the urban heat island effect. We will need to have climate-ready tree species if our cities are to be liveable and sustainable.
Senior Research Associate, Dr Gregory Moore from the University of Melbourne will be talking at a special event for Science Week. Learn practical tips on how to support and nurture the biodiversity around you, understand the fascinating relationships between plants and wildlife, and gain a deeper appreciation for the environment just outside your door.
Dr Moore has been a regular on Melbourne radio, particularly with ABC 774 and 3AW. He writes articles for The Conversation and was awarded the Order of Australia Medal 2017 for services to the environment, particularly arboriculture.
Light refreshments will be provided as well as the opportunity to take away a small tree to plant.
