The North East CMA is supporting enhancements to the Kiewa River and House Creek by removing invasive Black Willow trees and revegetating with native plant species! These woody weeds impact our waterways by altering physical flow dynamics, degrading water quality, and reducing habitat and biodiversity for native species, including the beloved Platypus and the not so well known Rakali.
As part of the $690,000 Platy Patch Project, co-funded by the Australian and Victorian Governments, it’s not just about clearing the weeds; it’s about restoring our waterways and fostering habitats for our wildlife.
This is a collaborative effort, implementing the Wodonga Regional Waterway Action Plan and bringing together organisations including Wodonga Urban Landcare Network, North East CMA, Wodonga Council, Parklands Albury Wodonga and Landcare groups to to create healthier waterways and boost biodiversity.
