This newly formed volunteer group plans to run regular stewardship activities, such as woody weeding, fencing, revegetation and maintenance of land previously managed by Parklands Albury Wodonga, ensuring that stewardship work along the Murray River and tributary corridors carries on.

The Friends of the Murray River are a group of residents living in the broader Wodonga region, with a mission to:
- conserve, maintain and enhance the biodiversity of the Murray River and tributary corridors
- encourage a connection with nature, by maintaining and enhancing the Murray River nature trail, and supporting community connectedness, tourism and wellbeing in the Albury-Wodonga area through interaction with the unique Murray River environment.
