Since establishing in 2002, the Tallangatta Rail Trail Advisory Group – known as TAG – has been instrumental in the realization of the High Country Rail Trail.
They have built, promoted and maintained 54km of the High Country Rail Trail from Sandy Creek to Shelley for 25 years.
Their many achievements include restoring the iconic Tallangatta Goods Shed, significant revegetation plantings to improve biodiversity, installing safety handrails on three railway bridges, restoring three trestle bridges, creating equestrian paddocks and trails, and inspiring, lobbying, and negotiating, playing a pivotal role in securing the stunning 600-metre Sandy Creek bridge.
They also run much-loved community events including the Tall Trestle Treadle and Whistlestop High Tea.
TAG holds monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at 3.30pm at Tallangatta Goods Shed, Tallangatta – new members are most welcome.
