New name: renewed focus

WULN is pleased to announce a special education focused project for 2017, funded by the Victorian Government through the Victorian Landcare Programme. We will be taking a snapshot of opportunities to link Landcare and Sustainability programs and events in Albury-Wodonga with educational programs, developing Pathways to Landcare for educators from pre-school all the way to University.

Meanwhile our Sustainability Ed area has had a name change from WLSEN to LENS – the reshuffle simply being much easier on the tongue!

We look forward to connecting with you in 2017, to discuss your needs and opportunities.

Change of Date for final gathering: Now Tuesday 19th November

Due to a clash with the launch of the RCE, we have changed our WLSEN meeting date to Tue 19th November. Come and celebrate Sustainability Education with a tour of Wooragee School’s great sustainability projects and afternoon tea in the Stephanie Alexander kitchen with other local educators. 4pm at Wooragee School, Beechworth-Wodonga Rd.

NAB Schools First Awards – WULN support available

National Australia Bank Schools First Awards – Applications are now open to all schools within Australia for grants of $5,000 to $200,000 to provide students with resources, knowledge and expertise to face the challenges of the twenty-first century through community partnerships.

This year, themes are based on areas that schools around Australia are already engaged in within their communities and address a variety of student needs. The themes include: Living sustainably/ Being active and well/Caring for your community/ Embracing diversity/ Asia ready/ Work ready/ Entrepreneurial spirit/ Open. These eight themes can also be used as ‘thought starters’ across the Seed Funding and Student Award categories to help you and your students think about the different ways that students needs can be met by partnering with the community.

For more detailed information on the themes click here. For more information on the program and to see past funded projects, go to http://www.schoolsfirst.edu.au/

Applications close 28-Jun-2013

WULN and Parklands Albury-Wodonga would be very happy to discuss a partnership with any Wodonga school seeking funds for environmental works through this grant.
