The Murray–Darling Authority (MDBA) is backing stronger local leadership across the Basin with the launch of a new program designed to support communities facing some of the region’s toughest challenges.
In partnership with the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF), the MDBA has established the Murray–Darling Basin Leadership Program (MDBLP).
The program will help participants build a deeper understanding of Basin water management and reform, strengthen their leadership and communication skills, and form lasting networks across communities and industries.
The ARLF will recruit a diverse mix of participants from across the Basin, including:
- people in emerging and formal leadership roles
- grassroots community leaders
- individuals from a wide range of sectors, ages, cultures and regions.
Selection will focus on people who demonstrate a commitment to acting beyond individual or sectoral interests and contributing to a Basin‑wide culture of collaboration and shared learning.
