Harvard Club of Victoria Non Profit Fellowship

This program aims to provide funding to up to three CEOs of non-profit organisations based in Victoria to attend the one-week Harvard Business School program Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management (SPNM) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in July. Applications close 2 February 2025.

2024-25 Volunteer Grants Program

2024-25 Volunteer Grants program is now open for grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 to support the work of local community organisations by reducing barriers for and increasing participation in volunteering. Applications close 17 January 2025.

All aboard for the new Board

The new Board was voted in at our recent AGM and met for the first time on Thursday 12 December.
Prior to meeting, the retiring committee and the new board met over dinner as a joint farewell and welcome.

EVM Grow 2024 in Wodonga

Environmental volunteer managers from across the North East recently came together at the EVM Grow event which was live streamed from Melbourne into regional hubs, including Wodonga.

Summer Internship with Parklands Albury Wodonga

Project SPROUT (Sustaining Parks, Restoring our Urban Terrain)

We are launching Project SPROUT (Sustaining Parks, Restoring our Urban Terrain) thanks to Bupa Australia’s generosity. In 2025, you and Wodonga Landcare will plant 5,000 trees, shrubs, and grasses across Wodonga at 10 locations, thanks to a Bupa Australia Landcare Grant.

Powering up environmental volunteering

Lights, camera (for pictures of our new power connection), now let’s get our volunteers into action!

We have powered up environmental volunteering in Wodonga with thanks to a grant from Albury Wodonga Connected Communities Ltd. This means lighting and power points. Such little things that mean so much to our volunteers!

WULN operational committee- SAVE THE DATE

2025 will see the creation of a new “operational” sub committee which will meet quarterly prior to the Facilitators quarterly meeting with Council operational staff. This committee will be convened by the Facilitator. Members of this subcommittee will be co-ordinators from each group. Each group will be expected to attend

EVM GROW Program announced!

DEECA will again be holding their annual Environmental Volunteer Managers event – EVM Grow and in exciting news the event which is being held in Melbourne will be livestreamed into a hub at Wodonga with morning tea, lunch and an afternoon presentation from a local environmental educator, Karen Retra.

Webinar: Advocating for the future of Landcare

Landcare Victoria webinar, 29 October. They will outline their submission to the State Government’s Victorian Landcare Facilitator Program review and how you can advocate for Landcare to your local representatives.

Gardens 4 Wildlife Project Officer news

Lizette Salmon will finish in the Gardens 4 Wildlife project officer role at the end of this year, and we thank Lizette for the tremendous work she has done, and continues to do, in this role. We welcome Rhiannon Khoury, who has joined us to deliver the Climate Resiliant Garden Planting project and is to transition into the full Gardens 4 Wildlife project officer role following Lizette’s departure.

Reminder: Special General Meeting

Following a review of Wodonga Urban Landcare Network (WULN) Inc’s Rules of Association and member consultation, the Committee of Management is proposing a new Constitution be adopted to ensure that we have a clear, fit-for-purpose governing document now and into the future. The special meeting will be held at Hyphen, on Sunday 27 October from 10:15am.
