ONG Nursery
Bev Hoffman’s contract has finished, and we thank her for the work she did in supporting nursery staff and volunteers through the early part of the transition.
It is financial planning time and over the next two months, the Finance & Risk Committee will consult with the nursery team on the 2026-2027 budget and the 5-year business plan.
We have been fortunate to be accepted into the OHS Essentials program which is a free service from WorkSafe. We have been allocated a consultant who will work with a small OHS working group over the next 12 months to review and improve OHS policies and procedures. The working group comprises the WULN Executive (Julie, Peter, Kate), the Network Facilitator (Jo), the nursery’s Production Manager (Dom) and a nursery representative (Gianna). If you have any questions or suggestions to make, please contact one of the working group members.
Recently, Peter, Jo, Wendy and Julie attended a North East Seed Security Forum with other interested organisations, nurseries, and Landcare groups from across the NE of Vic. We heard how there is a shortage across the NE and Southern Riverina of native seed and of trained people to collect and process the seed. In response to the forum, we are proposing to employ a Seed Bank Project Officer. For further information about this position, please contact either Julie or Peter.
40 Years of Landcare
This year is the 40th year of Landcare. While celebrations will be held at both state and regional level, the Board has decided that WULN will hold local celebrations as well. Kate will lead a small working party to plan a series of celebratory activities. If you are interested in being part of that planning group, please contact Kate.
