Turtles Albury Wodonga

Turtles Albury/Wodonga started in 2019 by a group of local people who had a passion for protecting and caring for our local Murray River Turtles, preventing them from becoming endangered.

We’re achieving this by protecting turtle nests from foxes (who decimate 93% of all turtle nests) as well as other predators that destroy turtle nests.

We also engage in community awareness through educational exhibits at events, schools and community groups. Our local community are actively involved in supporting our mission to save our turtle’s. We do regular working bees, reporting sightings and protect nests as well as habitat improvement. Our group does most of our field work at Sumsion Gardens (Belvoir Park), Ryan’s lagoon conservation Reserve and Allan’s Flats, as well as anywhere else that we are needed in the region.
