Late September saw a large group gather to connect, learn, share, and be inspired to start or continue their landscape restoration journey by the impressive transformation showcased at Hidden Farm, tucked in the tricky terrain of the Castle Creek catchment near Wodonga.
Hosts, Ben and Carley, were more than happy to share their management philosophy at Hidden Farm, talking through the different areas as the group explored once barren paddocks now interspersed with shelterbelts to protect stock, the thriving creekline vegetation slowing erosion and improving water quality, and revegetation works to enhance habitat for the Swift Parrot and Regent Honeyeater.
Hidden Farm does present some difficult conditions, and those were apparent even during the group’s short visit. For Ben and Carley, the importance of rocky outcrops for reptiles often outweighs the negatives.
Join us when Wodonga Landcare (WULN) hope to head back to Hidden Farm to see how Ben and Carley are progressing things into the future.
Thank you Carley and Ben for sharing your journey, also thanks to Phill Falcke from North East Catchment Management Authority.
