Charging of battery operated tools
With the completion of our power connection at Willow Park Shed we now have the capacity to charge batteries on site. Lithium-ion batteries are highly energy-dense and contain electrolytes that are highly flammable. There are several situations that can lead to lithium-ion batteries catching fire, including:
-
- Overcharging or use of non-compliant charging equipment
- Overheating or exposure to heat or extreme temperatures
- Physical abuse (e.g. dropping, crushing, piercing, and/or vibrations)
- Short-circuiting, battery cell malfunctions or system fault
- Defects or contamination introduced during manufacture
TO MINIMISE RISK WHEN CHARGING BATTERIES PLEASE HANDLE BATTERIES WITH CARE.
FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHARGING AND ALWAYS USE THE TIMERS PROVIDED SO THAT BATTERIES ARE NOT LEFT CHARGING INDEFINITELY.
Please also read this safety note. What should I do if my battery is smoking or on fire
Use of Community Spray & Water Units
With a drier summer predicted for 2024/25 and weeds on the march, groups may be looking to access WULN’s spray unit and Council’s water cart for management of their plantings. Please make sure that you review the guidelines for borrowing and use and ensure you have the appropriate spray qualifications and your vehicle and tow ball have the capacity to tow these units.
Please also note that Council staff have priority to the water units and groups may need to work in around other bookings for these shared items. Please read the following documents for more information noting that the full pack of information including the Glyphosate 360g/L SDS, label and other instructions are located in a folder near the chemical storage in the Willow Park Shed.
