Join the Clyde Cameron Reserve Landcare Group and Make a Difference!
Are you passionate about preserving and improving our natural environment? Do you want to contribute to the beauty and sustainability of your local community? Look no further! We invite you to join the Clyde Cameron Reserve Landcare Group, a dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain and enhance the Clyde Cameron Reserve in Wodonga.
The Clyde Cameron Reserve Group is a small Landcare group comprised of local residents who share a common goal: to help with the development and maintenance of the Reserve. As part of the Wodonga Urban Landcare Network (WULN), we are connected to a larger collective of 18 member groups committed to protecting and managing the open spaces of Wodonga.
What We Do
At Clyde Cameron Reserve, we engage in a variety of activities to ensure the Reserve remains a thriving natural habitat and an attractive community space. Here are some of the tasks we undertake:
- Planting and Staking: We plant trees, bushes, and grasses to enhance the biodiversity of the Reserve. We also stake and provide guards to protect the young plants. We water plants in dry weather.
- Weeding and Weed Control: We weed the Reserve to maintain its health and prevent invasive species from taking over. We employ techniques such as whipper snipping, mulching, and targeted weed spraying.
- Pruning and Maintenance: We prune trees and shrubs as needed to promote healthy growth and maintain the Reserve’s aesthetic appeal.
Community Involvement and Education
As part of our commitment to fostering environmental awareness, we collaborate with Catholic College and welcome students to join us in our Landcare efforts during the school terms. This provides them with hands-on experience and knowledge about environmental stewardship, encouraging them to take an active interest in the future of our planet.
