A community information evening on Wednesday 5th of March will launch the newest addition to Wodonga’s environmental protection network – the Friends of the WREN – Bears Hill group.
The event will introduce residents to opportunities for hands-on conservation work at Bears Hill Reserve.
Andrew Griffiths, Team Leader of Parks and Natural Resources at Wodonga Council, will present on the Wodonga Retained Environment Network (WREN), while Jo Vincent, Wodonga Landcare Facilitator, will discuss the Wodonga Urban Landcare Network (WULN).
The new group, led by coordinator Sharon Casagrande, plans to undertake regular habitat restoration activities including native plantings and weed management. Volunteers can participate in monthly or fortnightly sessions, with flexible scheduling to accommodate different availability.
“This is a chance for local residents to directly contribute to protecting one of Wodonga’s valuable natural areas while connecting with their community,” said Jo Vincent.
“We invite anyone with an interest in the Bear’s Hill Reserve area to come along, have a chat about how they might like to be involved, and to consider joining this new group,” she added.
Interested community members are encouraged to register for the information evening to be held at Felltimber Community Centre, from 6-7:30pm on Wednesday 5 March.
