Hello Members, Staff, Board and Associate Members,
What a month it’s been! Since our last update, we’ve achieved some significant milestones including holding our AGM, opening our new office, passing two special resolutions, completing our merger with ONG, and launching our annual report.
Karen has been hard at work delivering the Great Southern Bioblitz program, running five events with impressive community engagement—only one was cancelled due to wet weather.
Leneva Castle Creek Landcare, in collaboration with NECMA, hosted a well-attended Soils Field Day as part of the Carbon Farming Outreach Program. Gervaise has wrapped up her Healthy Hectares workshop series with excellent participation with registrations from 21 people across 12 properties, and is now planning an information day on 30 November for the 2026 Healthy Hectares workshop series, plus an exciting Cultural Land Management workshop with Traditional Owners.
I’ve been coordinating patch planning with groups, and Wodonga Council, and finalising plant orders. We recently held a successful Blackberry workshop with Kiewa Catchment Landcare Groups, which completes our Partnerships Against Pests Project.
We’re thrilled to announce we’ve secured funding through the Victorian Landcare Program for support grants to cover insurance for our member groups in 2026, as well as funds for “Healing Huon Creek”—an erosion control planning project—and “Birds and the Bees”—a pollinator corridors project as part of the Gardens for Wildlife Program.
Agriculture Victoria funding has also been secured under their Partnerships against Pests Program for further workshops and collaborative pest and weed planning for the Wodonga area.
It’s been an incredibly busy year, and there’s still plenty to accomplish before Christmas. Thank you all for your continued dedication and hard work and I look forward to catching up with Co-ordinators for one last meeting on Sunday 16th November.

Welcome Friends of Elmwood
Welcome to Friends of Elmwood – Our New Landcare Group!
Wednesday, October 22nd, we held our membership day and were thrilled to welcome 12 households to our new Landcare group, Friends of Elmwood. With several apologies on the day, we’re confident the memberships will keep rolling in!
Thanks goes to Brendon Collins – the first group member whose support has been key in getting this group off the ground in collaboration with Betsy, Barb and Robyn and their amazing band of helpers who have already put in a tremendous amount of work into this group behind the scenes.
Build community connectedness through activities at the pavilion, throughout the Elmwood estate and in the community garden
Maintain and enhance our unique streetscapes
Increase awareness of urban biodiversity through education and citizen science activities
Connect with the broader Landcare Network.
Coordinators: reminder Operations Meeting, Sunday 16 Nov 10am-12pm Baranduda Fields Office.
The quarterly Operations meeting for group Coordinators is scheduled for Sunday, 16th November, 10am-12pm and we will have a focus on the Safety Policy and review of systems.
As noted previously, the official Baranduda Fields Ecohub Opening (initially planned for this same date) has been rescheduled to February 2026.
Sustainable Living Festival 2025
The Albury Wodonga Sustainable Living Festival is an annual event encouraging people to learn about and embrace sustainability practices in their everyday.This year, the Festival will be held as part of the Albury Twilight Markets on Thursday 13 November, from 5pm to 8pm at QEII Square, Albury.
WULN will be in attendance flying the flag for our groups and spreading the word about Landcare. Feel free to pop in and say hello!
